INGREDIENTS:
- Tapioca(kappa)..1kg
- Grated coconut..11/2cup
- Shallots..............8nos
- Green chilly.......4nos
- Garlic cloves.....3nos
- Cumin seeds......1/4tsp
- Turmeric powder.1/2tsp
- Salt ......................to taste
- Water....................as required
FOR SEASONING:
- Coconut oil..........1tbsp
- Mustard seeds......1/2tsp
- Dry chilly..............3nos
- Curry leaves..........2strings
STEPS:
- Peel the tapioca,cut into small cubes and wash well.
- In a vessel add cleaned tapioca and enough water (the water level should be 2-3 inches higher than tapioca) then cook uncovered and allow to boil.
- When the water boils,remove from fire and drain the water and again add same amount of water, salt and turmeric powder then cook until it done.
- Once it cooked, drain off the water using a colander and keep it aside.
- Crush cumin,shallots,green chilly and garlic together and keep aside.
- In a vessel add cooked tapioca, crushed mix and grated coconut, combine well then cover and cook on low flame until water evaporates well.
- Now mash tapioca with a wooden spatula and cook 2more minutes then remove from heat.
- Seasoning it with above mentioned ingredients,tapioca vevichathu is ready!.
- Serve warm with nadan fish curry..Enjoy.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
