- Par boiled rice..................11/2cup
- Grated coconut .................1cup
- Fennel seeds ......................3/4tsp
- Shallots ..............................8nos
- Cumin seeds .......................1/2tsp
- Cardamom pod......................2no
- Salt ........................................to taste
FOR GRINDING:
- Grated coconut .......................3tbsp
- Fennel seeds ..........................1/2tsp
- Shallots ...................................4ns
- Turmeric powder ....................1/4tsp

FOR FILLING:
- King fish (ayakoora)slices........300g
- Onion ......................................2nos
- Green chilly .............................2nos
- Ginger garlic paste...................11/2tbsp
- Curry leaves .............................2sprigs
- Chopped cilantro ......................3tbsp
- Chilly powder ...........................3/4tsp
- Coriander powder .....................3/4tsp
- Turmeric powder.........................1/4tsp
- Salt .............................................to taste
- Oil ...............................................for fry
- STEPS:
- Soak the parboiled rice in hot water for 5 hours.
- Grind the soaked rice along with grated coconut,fennel seeds,cumin seeds,shallots,cardamom pod,salt and required water make a thick paste.(If batter consistency is more watery than required,you can add rice flour(pathiri podi) until thick dough.).
- Make a coarse paste above mentioned grinding ingredients keep aside.
- Wash the fish and marinate with chilly powder,turmeric powder and salt for 10 minutes,then slightly shallow fry them.allow to cool then crush them with hand and set aside.
- Heat in the same 2tbsp oil (which used to fry fish) in a pan add sliced onion,chopped green chilly,ginger garlic paste,curry leaves and salt saute well till onion is golden brown.
- Now add masala powders stir for few seconds when its raw smell is gone add crushed fish combine well.
- Then add ground coconut stir and cook for few seconds add chopped cilantro mix well,remove from the fire,filling is ready.
- Make big lemon size balls from the prepared dough.Take one of them and place it in a greased banana leaves or foil and press lightly to make a circle (like poori).Now spread 3tbsp fish filling, cover it with another pathiri press the sides to seal it.Repeat the process with remaining balls and fillings.
- Heat a steamer with enough water and steam them for 20minutes or until done.
- Meen pathiri is ready. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
