Payyoli chicken fry (payyoli kozhi porichathu)

Hi friends,

Today's I am sharing  a tasty and yummy chicken recip,payyoli chicken fry.Payyoli is a place situated in the north Malabar coast of kerala.This dish is very popular in payyoli..It is very simple to follow the authentic Malabar flavours.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken ..................1kg
  • Kashmir chilly(whole).18nos
  • Water ..........................11/2cup
  • Ginger garlic paste......11/2sp
  • Vinegar.........................2tbsp
  • Turmeric powder..........1/2tsp
  • Fennel powder...............1/2tsp
  • Chicken masala..............1tbsp
  • Salt .................................to taste
  • Grated coconut................1/2tsp
  • Green chilly.....................5nos(slit length wise)
  • Curry leaves.....................4sprigs
  • Coconut oil......................for fry

STEPS:

  1. Cut the chicken into medium pieces, wash well and pat dry them.
  2. Heat 11/2 cup of water in a sauce pan add Kashmir chilly,cover with lid and boil for 20minutes,then drain it and grind little water,keep aside.
  3. In a bowl add 3/4 portion  of chilly paste,turmeric powder,chicken masala,fennel powder, ginger garlic paste,vinegar and salt mix well and marinate with chicken for 3hours.
  4. Mix together remaining  chilly paste,grated coconut and salt,keep it aside.
  5. Heat coconut  oil in a wok and fry the marinated chicken on medium flame until nice golden in colour (don't fry too brown).Remove chicken from oil and drain them on a  paper towel.
  6. Fry coconut  in the same oil,keep stirring  until it turns golden in colour on high flame,(the coconut may  burn fast,so be careful while frying the coconut) and drain it  on a paper towel.
  7. Fry green chilly and curry leaves in the same oil.Delicious payyoli  kozhi porichathu is  ready!
  8. Serve the chicken fry  with green chillies,curry leaves and fried coconut on top.
  9. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
