Sadhya special pineapple pachadi /kaithachakka pachadi (Sadhya recipe # 9)

Hi friends,
Today  I would like to share pachadi recipe.It is a traditional kerala sadhya(feast) side dish made using fruits or vegetables.Here is the recipe of a pineapple pachadi.It is very tasty, yummy and easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Ripe pineapple..........11/2cup
  • Chilly powder............1/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder.......1/4tsp
  • Green chilly................2nos
  • Yogurt........................1/2cup or according to sourness of the yogurt
  • Sugar...........................2tbsp as ur taste
  • Salt..............................to taste
  • Mustard seeds.............1/2tsp

FOR GRINDING:

  • Grated coconut............1/2cup
  • Cumin/jeera seeds.........1tsp

FOR SEASONING:

  • Coconut oil....................2tbsp
  • Mustard seeds ...............1/2tsp
  • Red chilly.......................2nos
  • Curry leaves....................2sprigs


STEPS:

  1. Peel the pineapple remove all eyes and middle hard portion, cut into very small pieces.
  2. Cook pineapple along with chilly powder,turmeric powder, split green chilly,sugar, salt and 1/4cup of water until it is done.
  3. Lightly beat yogurt with a spoon and keep aside.
  4. Grind  the  above mentioned grinding ingredients to a fine paste.
  5. Crush the mustard seeds in a mortar and pestle and keep aside.
  6. Add ground coconut mixture to the cooked pineapple mix well and reduce the flame and cook for few minutes or until the coconut raw smell  goes away and all the water evaporates.
  7. Now add the  yogurt and crushed mustard seeds mix well and switch off the flame (do not boil after adding yogurt) adjust salt and sugar.
  8. Heat coconut oil in a pan add mustard seeds,when it is splutter add red chilly and curry leaves and pour over the pachadi.close with a lid for 10 minutes.
  9. So now our tasty and yummy pachadi is ready.Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
