Vaazha koombu thoran(Banana blossom stir fry)




SUMMARY:

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vazha koombu....  1 medium (banana blossom)
  • Shallots..................6nos
  • Urad dall..............1/2tsp
  • Row rice...............1tsp
  • Curry leaves.....    2sprigs
  • Mustard ...............1/4tsp
  • Red chilly.............2nos
  • Coconut oil..........1tbsp

FOR GRIND:

  • Grated coconut....1/2cup
  • Green chilly.........2nos
  • Shallots................4nos
  • Garlic cloves.......1nos

STEPS:

  1. Remove the red petals one by one until the middle inner white part, now chop the cleaned florets and immerse in butter milk or turmeric water till used to cook.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a pan,add rice, stir until golden brown, add mustard seeds,urad dall, red chilly,chopped shallots and curry leaves, saute it well.
  3. Now add chopped banana blossom and salt, mix well, cover the pan with lid and cook for couple of minutes in low flame.
  4. Grind to a coarse paste with above mentioned ingredients.
  5. Add coarse paste in to the cooked banana blossom and mix well.
  6. Keep stirring until all the water is evaporates.
  7. Banana blossom stir fry is ready......Enjoy the dish..!!!!!
