Malabar varutharacha kozhi curry(Chicken in roasted coconut gravy)

Hi friends,
Today's my recipe is malabar varutharacha kozhi curry.It is best combination with nice pathiri.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken ......................1kg
  • Shallots .......................1cup
  • Onion...........................1no
  • Tomato..........................2nos small
  • Curry leaves .................2sprigs
  • Crushed ginger .............1small piece
  • Crushed garlic cloves.....6nos
  • Crushed green chilly.......2nos
  • Coriander powder ..........2tbsp
  • Chilly powder..................1/2tbsp
  • Turmeric powder .............1/4tsp
  • Garam masala ..................1/4tsp
  • Coconut oil........................1tbsp
  • Salt.....................................to taste
  • Cinnamon stick..................1small piece
  • Cloves ................................3nos
  • Cardamom pods..................5nos

FOR ROAST:

  • Grated coconut ..................1cup
  • Shallots ..............................5nos
  • Fennel seeds ........................1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves .........................1sprig
  • Coconut oil ...........................1tbsps

FOR TEMPERING:

  • Chopped shallots   ...................4nos
  • Curry leaves ............................2spring
  • Coconut oil ..............................1tbsp

STEPS:


  1. Clean  and cut the chicken,wash well and drain it .
  2. Marinate the chicken with all masala powders and salt, keep aside for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat1tbsp  oil in a pan add grated coconut,shallots, fennel seeds and curry leaves roast  until it golden brown.remove from the fire,allow to cool then grind a smooth paste and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a vessel add  whole masalas,sliced onion,crushed shallots,green chilly,ginger,garlic and curry leaves saute  until onion is golden brown.
  5. Now add tomato and marinated chicken saute for 5 minutes then add required hot water cook in low flame till it is done.
  6. Once it is done  add roasted ground coconut stir well,When it is start to boil remove from the fire then tempering above mentioned ingredients.
  7. Varutharacha kozhi curry is ready to serve. Enjoy!!!!!! with pathiri or ghee rice.
